Once you follow the directions in the manual for setting up your Husqvarna RZ3016 30-inch 16.5 HP Briggs & Stratton Gas Powered Zero Turn Riding Lawn Mower, it is easy to use – it does, however, require practice and patience.
The Husqvarna RZ3016 has plenty of safety features to offer. For one, it disconnects the negative side of the battery when they ship the unit to you. This is common practice when it comes to gas-powered equipment. Connecting the battery is quite easy. Simply follow how the positive side is done, and you’re good to go.
Why is connecting the battery properly so important? Because if not done properly, the battery cover will not close properly and so the switch to start off the battery will not be engaged. This is another of the Husqvarna RZ3016’s safety feature. If connected properly, the battery will work when you sit on the seat.
When you do start to get familiar operating the ZTR, you’ll find that your lawn time will be significantly reduced. This 30-inch model is great to use on average to medium-sized lawns.
You will also like the fact that the build of the Husqvarna RZ3016 is very durable with its huge front tires and even its stout caster assembly. In fact, you can see these in commercial-grade mowers, which just goes to show how powerful this “little” ZTR is.
If you’ve run out of fuel or need to refill your oil, doing it with the Husqvarna RZ3016 is very easy. Operating the unit is also comfortable. You won’t have a bad back or a sore butt after operating the Husqvarna RZ3016, even if it is powerful. The padded grips on the levers and the vinyl seat make for comfortable handling of the machine.
If you want to add attachments, you can. Attachments such as a bagger can be added to the Husqvarna RZ3016 to make your lawn cutting experience as pleasant as possible.
The Husqvarna RZ3016 is quite sensitive. As much as you have to learn to steer using levers, get the zero turn technique right, and get comfortable, you also need to get used to the touch-sensitive controls. If you’re not too careful, you might just finish cutting your lawn in a matter of minutes and the result won’t be pretty at all.
If you like going fast as you round corners, doing so with the Husqvarna RZ3016 will result in your grass being gouged out. So much for lawn care!
They tried packing a beast into this small ZTR mower. Although it performs quite well, there are some features that you just can’t get unless you get a large mower. If you have a small lawn, a tight budget, and narrow door or gate openings, this product is great for you. Other than that, it gets a 4 out of 5 rating.
There are a few ZTRs out there of this size. If you want to pit the Husqvarna RZ3016 against another ZTR, you can compare it to its bigger models from the same brand or another brand. Both the Husqvarna and Poulan Pro have ZTRs with cutting decks measuring 42” to 54”.
If your space can accommodate mowers in this size, you would be better off with a bigger model. The bigger models of Husqvarna and Poulan Pro also have features that the Husqvarna RZ3016 does not have.
This includes two cutting blades. With two cutting blades, going over your lawn once is enough for it to be manicured to perfection.
With a single blade such as the Husqvarna RZ3016, you might have to go over your lawn twice. But you’d still finish faster than standard mowers or the steering wheel riding lawn mowers.
If your lawn has some slopes to it, you are better off with the bigger Husqvarna or Poulan Pro models because they can grip the ground better than the Husqvarna RZ3016 which doesn’t perform quite as well even when mowing the slope at a slant.
Compare the maintenance and upkeep of your Husqvarna RZ3016 to other brands or of similar brand but bigger models. There are significant changes that can make changing batteries, gas, and oil a better experience for you.
